The Forum Flinders Street - Melbourne VIC
The Forum Theatre, a heritage-listed venue situated at the intersection of Flinders and Russell Streets in Melbourne, was originally constructed in 1929. Designed by prominent U.S. picture palace architect John Eberson, the building has transitioned from a cinema to a live music and event venue, operating in this capacity since 1995. A recent renovation included major kitchen and infrastructure upgrades, carefully integrated within the building’s historic structure.
Project Design Brief
As part of the kitchen upgrade, designers specified a new flooring system, necessitating the integration of a compatible drainage solution. The drainage system required a lowprofile, discreet design to align with the flooring while providing reliable wash-down liquid removal. It also needed to allow easy maintenance access without disrupting the finished floor surface. The system required removable strainer baskets for daily removal of food debris captured in the drains.
ACO's Solution
- Stainless Steel SlotChannel
Benefits
- SlotChannel with sloped invert stainless steel channels is suitable for draining water from large level flooring.
- The 20mm slot allows small food waste to be washed into the drain and captured in the strainer baskets located in the vertical outlets while larger food waste is prevented from entering the slot opening.
- SlotChannel with a solid edge is capable of withstanding heavy loads.
