Sash Western Sydney Animal Hospital, Prospect, NSW
Sash is one of Australia’s veterinary hospital networks providing a broad range of specialists and emergency veterinary care for dogs, cats and other companion animals. A new purpose built facility was recently opened in Prospect equipped with CT, MRI, procedure rooms and surgical suites.
Project Design Brief
For regular wash-downs around the kennels, a durable drain had to be securely integrated into the vinyl floor finish. Efficient drainage, without the prospect of standing water anywhere on the floor, was a key project requirement and slippery surfaces had to be minimised for worker safety.

- System 100 with Vinyl Seal Stainless Steel 5 Star Heelsafe® Anti-Slip grates.
- ACO worked with the builder to ensure the custom drain was sized correctly for the application.
Benefits
- The stainless steel channel has a 1:100 built in fall enabling efficient drainage to outlets.
- The channel and grate system was fabricated from grade 304 stainless steel, to provide adequate corrosion resistance for cleaning chemicals.
- Vinyl Seal provides a superior seal between the drain and vinyl sheet flooring.
- The grate comprises 6mm slots and R11 slip resistance (AS 4586) to reduce slip hazards even after washdown operations.
